Dreaming as a topic is so favorite to me. Before we onboard on to this new journey of dreaming, I want to tell you why dreaming is important in life.
I wrote a blog on dreams in 2013 while I was on my way back from a trip to USA. In that blog, I wrote about my dream to be able to come and live for few years in USA with my wife, make family ( our beloved daughter Meera got born on Apr 19th 2017), to work in USA and to study MBA in USA. Humbly speaking, all these dreams we have achieved by now. Before you give me credit, let me tell you, my wife has played a pivotal role in allowing me to dream limitless, supported me emotionally and financially, and most importantly pushed me to never stop chasing my dreams. She has sacrificed her dreams to make me achieve mine and for that I am indebted to her for the whole of my life. I am now trying hard to play the part she played for me so that she can achieve her dreams. And, yes, we also have a common dream one day to start a company in India and empower those in need to dream to live a better life.
You see, dreams are such a beatifull thing, they make you jump out of bed in the morning, they make your days fulfilling and they make you look up to your nights. Dreams also make you meet new people , see their world, embrace their challenges and opportunities. Dreams make you inspire others, get inspired by others and spreads a sea of positivity around you. Dreams make you live longer, stay stronger and die with list full of accomplishments.
Then why is so that not everyone is dreaming? And the ones who do, only few are chasing their dreams. And also the ones who dream are limiting themselves. In order to understand this phenomena, I have been asking myself this question, does dreaming come to just a few? But I have found that the answer is a resounding no.
Go back to the days when you were a new born, weren't you imagining and dreaming all day ? Those story tales that your mom used to recite made you sleep and dream them. I remember dreaming about being in a train , boat and a plane and I will go to sleep early just to have those dreams. Then when I grew up, I remember dreaming about being a script writer one day after my brother recited me a story about dinosaurs. I actually wrote a story called under the sea but never showed it to anyone and trashed it finally.
The stories of independence recited in schools and the stories of Ramayana recited at home made me dream to become a leader who can contribute towards positive change.
When I was very young , I started following Rajiv Gandhi. I would listen to him speak on radio about building a new India. I was in love with his aura, his speeches and about his dream of all inclusive, poverty free and computer dominant india. It was also the time when Indian companies started making a forrey in IT field. It was then that I decided I wanna be in computers field. All this had a positive influence on me and made me dream about what I want to do and where I want to go in life.
So coming back to the question of why not everyone is dreaming ? I just told you about how we all dream in our childhood. What happens later in our life that we stop doing so. I think we stop nurturing our dreams, and we start to associate ourselves with people who have also stopped nurturing thier dreams. Sometimes situations are so that we just end up tackling life to be alive and let alone dreaming. Also, often times many of us have such a comfortable life, we stop nurturing our dreams.
I challenge such status quo in life. I challenge people who stop dreaming and never have the desire to dream again. I challenge friends who don't challenge themeseleves and their companions to never stop dreaming. Such people should just look around or go back to the past to seek inspiration from people who have dreamt. If wright brothers would have not dreamt , we will not be flying in the sky. If Gandhi would have not dreamt of a free India , who knows where India would have been now. If Mandela would have not dreamt , apartheid would have existed even longer. If people would not have dreamt, we will not have computers, phones , internet , google
, Facebook or Amazon. How will our life be without such things ? Okay , dreams don't have to measured by size or impact, even the smallest things exist because someone dreamt of them. Then why do people stop nurturing their dreams and start to only do things just to have a life. Why do they limit themselves ? May be because dreaming makes you challenge status quo , it makes you uncomfortable, it creates an itch in you to do more, and it's asks for more of your time, efforts and energy. May be the ones who stop
nurturing their dreams do so because they are happy with status quo, they don't want to feel itched and uncomfortable and they don't want to put efforts , energy and time in chasing and realizing dreams. They are happy with their comfortable life or are too occupied in life that they don't dream.
What can we do to have these friends of us dream again? Like I have said in my previous blogs, each and every human being has a purpose. Humans who dream are in search of purpose knowingly or unknowingly. To me finding your purpose and then working to achieve it provides a human within continuous spark to dream limitless and realize their dreams. Those who have stopped nurturing their dreams , have stopped looking for purpose in their life and stopped achieving the purpose. They don't want to challenge status quo but they are wasting their life and the reason for it. Many then go to their graveyard with a list full of things they wanted to do but they could not and in my opinion not realizing their purpose is the top in many humans list.
To all my friends who have stopped dreaming, do a quick grave yard test. Think that you are about to die and list out all the things you wanted to do in life but you could not. That's the list which is your dream list !!!! And relax, it was just a test , you have not yet died so start dreaming again, start chasing and realizing your dreams again. And in the process inspire others to dream and make out world a better place.
Beautiful, lovely, Inspiring! It was like being there with the fresh waves of a perennial river. Wish you all that you have dreamt for. Cheers ! Ritwik
