What's your net worth?
I hail from a middle class family. I understand the value of money a lot as I remember days where in my parents had to cut down on everything to be able to provide us food and education. '
By the title of the blog, you might have thought that I am gonna preach about saving money and building a strong net-worth wrt money. That's not the point I want to put across. Obviously, earning money is critical and important. I remember mother Teresa's saying, " You must have before you can give". But just having money might not be enough.
Your Net worth is not just the money you have in your bank. For me,your networth is the family that you have, the friends that you create, the peers who you work with and the lives that you positively impact.
Have you been able to create a positive impact to your family? Have you been able to bring happiness to your friend and his/her family? Do your colleagues remember you for making them comfortable in their work and for the success you could create for them? Have you been able to impact lives of people around you?
If you have "Yes" as the answer to above questions, you are already on track to build your net worth. You now need to decide how many lives you wish to create an impact on. You current numbers may be low but you can build on it. You live once and by living to give, you make the most of your living. You will have many people cry when you leave this world . They will cry because they will miss you for the impact you created for them and that's your net worth.
You need not worry if your answer to the questions is "No" currently. You can start building your networth now. It doesn't require money, it requires will. Imagine helping a family which needs your help the most, giving smile to a kid who deserves it the most, creating job opportunities for people thereby impacting their and their family's life. Simple acts like just being a loyal, trust worthy and a plating mentor for a friend, colleague are also enough for someone to feel that you will always be there when they need someone the most.
What are you waiting for? Start getting genuinely interested in contributing to the world around you and the world will reciprocate. Start being kind, start being lovable, start giving. Let's create a a world where peace, prosperity and love does not just belong to a select few.
With Love,
Umesh
